We continue to pray for those seeking employment, college students, travelers, the people of Florida, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, relief workers, those dealing with mental illness, our elected leaders, church committees, military families, immigrants, victims of violence and war, the Great Mills High School community and the people and communities affected by more than 58 mass shootings* this year.

Current Collections

Collection for Comfort Cases: The youth group is collecting backpacks and supplies for Comfort Cases (, an organization that supports foster kids. We’re collecting: Small duffel bags/backpacks, pajamas (child size 10-adult XXL), small blankets (preferably fuzzy), stuffed animals, journals, pens, pencils, books, adult toothbrushes, and travel-sized toiletries (toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner, lotion, body wash, deodorant). Our goal is to collect supplies for five Comfort Cases! There will be a box in Room 403 (located in the Fellowship Building) to drop off supplies by April 30.

Girl Scout Silver Award Project: Trinity member, Amelia Swenson is working on a Girl Scout silver award project to benefit Friends of Falls Church Homeless Shelter. Her project includes collecting unused shower shoes and t-shirts of all sizes. There will be donation boxes in the narthex for the whole month of April, so please bring in some supplies to benefit the homeless. Thank you!

This Month’s Collection: Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center: To support this early childhood program, we are collecting

  • art supplies (construction paper, tempera paints, laminating paper, masking tape, Popsicle sticks, beads, stickers, etc.)
  • copy paper
  • cake mix (no chocolate or nuts)
  • plain Cheerios
  • HE Tide laundry detergent
  • canned fruit

New Class

The Apocyrphal Jesus begins next Sunday with Pastor Jim Sprouse. This video series, presented by The Ohio State University professor, Dr. David Brakke, will examine the non-canonical writings about Jesus, his family and the early apostles. These writings provide historical evidence for the diversity of early Christian thought. Beginning the week of April 15: Sundays at 9:30 a.m., Mondays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Library.

Crafts for a Cause is Trinity’s ministry to local hospitals and shelters. We’ll be making comfort pillows, dolls, blankets and hats at two work sessions this month: Mondays, April 9 & 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 124. Help is needed with cutting fabric, stuffing pillows, sewing and assembling girls’ dresses. No skills required, just helping hands.

Last month during Good Works Day, volunteers helped assemble more than 30 “pioneer dolls” that will go to needy girls in Uganda. Volunteers also helped will start a mountain of pillows for hospital patients.

Trinity United Methodist Church is located in McLean, VA. Our weekly worship services are on Sundays at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. and on Wednesdays at noon. Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m. for children and adults. Children up to 6th grade are also invited to Children's Education during the 10:30 service.
