Trinity’s book club will meet Tuesday, April 10, to discuss Rules of Civility, by Amor Towles, a stylish novel about a young woman in post-Depression-era New York who suddenly finds herself thrust into high society. On May 10 we’ll dive into Madame Bovary, the debut novel of French writer Gustave Flaubert, about a character who lives beyond her means in order to escape the banalities and emptiness of provincial life. It caused quite a stir when it was published in 1856, but it’s now considered to be Flaubert’s masterpiece, and one of the most influential literary works in history.
