Music: January 2017

Join Children’s & Youth Choirs in thE NEw YEar!

By Catherine Wethington, Dir. of Children’s & Youth Choirs

Happy New Year! In the fall of 2016 the Children’s and Youth Choirs learned wonderful music and had a lot of fun singing together. It all culminated with our Christmas musical The Reluctant Innkeeper and Benjamin Britten’s Balulalow from his Ceremony of Carols. There is no better time than the New Year to join one of our choirs! You get to see your church friends in the middle of the week, you have the opportunity to praise God through singing in a large group and in small groups, you learn how to read music- a skill that will benefit our children in their adult lives, but mostly you get to have fun! Don’t wait, give choir a try, our next rehearsal will be Wednesday January, 4, at 6-7 p.m. The youth will sing at 6pm while the children eat dinner and at 6:30 the children will sing while the youth eats. Dinner is provided by a different Children’s and Youth Choir family each week! See you Wednesday!

Resolutions

By Jerry Rich, Director of Music

“The New Year is here, and I am looking for a resolution.”

If you are having this thought, why not join one of Trinity’s choirs? Choir is more than rehearsing, ringing and singing. It is a vital part of Trinity whose members feel called to minister to others through music.

Join one of our choirs and you will:

1) Be a part of the church’s worship life

2) Fellowship with others who feel God’s call to serve through music

3) Experience how music becomes an extension of God’s word

Qualifications for joining a choir include:

1) Loving Jesus with all your heart

2) Wanting to express through music what God has done for you

3) Being willing to serve at Trinity

You don’t have to be a great singer or ringer (although we are blessed with those!). If God has called you to serve in a choir, others will help you begin your journey in this new way to serve. Remember that “God does not call the qualified; rather, he qualifies the called”. If God is calling you to serve at Trinity through its music program, please make a resolution now to try one of its choirs!

Children’s & Youth Choirs resume Wednesday rehearsals on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on Jan. 4

Trinity Ringers and Chancel Choir resume Thursday rehearsals at 6:30 & 7:30 p.m.  on Jan. 5.
