A group of 13 TUMC Men traveled to Dan Moore’s mountain home at Deep Creek Lake, in Oakland, MD, on the weekend after Labor Day. We enjoyed friendship, fellowship, some recreation opportunities, good food, and a weekend of finding delight and peace in being in relationship with God.

This faith and fellowship event is held annually. For the past 12-plus years at several locations within about three hours from McLean, we have been hosted by a gracious and caring member of the Methodist Men. The retreat gathers folks who want to spend time in fellowship with friends and have an opportunity to learn more about God. To that end a spiritual group-discussion time was held on Saturday morning (led by Brad Duty) and a Worship Service was held on Sunday morning (led by Dan Moore and Earl Griggs). The weather was great for those who wanted to play golf, enjoy some lake swimming and boating, and relax at meals and social time on the porch.

The next Men’s Retreat location will be decided later. We encourage all Methodist men to look for announcements in the future for this great event, and plan to join the fellowship and spiritual development opportunities. You’ll find it to be a great time, and well worth your weekend away.

On a fantastic weather day in late August, Trinity UMC held its 3rd Annual We Care & Share Golf Classic, at the Hidden Creek Country Club in Reston, VA. The gathering drew 40 golfing friends and/or business associates who participated and raised funds benefiting various educational and spiritually focused programs and facilities that support children and youth locally, regionally, and in several international countries.

The We Care & Share Golf Classic was started to help support and grow programs that contribute to the health, welfare, and education of children and youth of all ages. Local and regional organizations such as Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center, Camp Highroad, Appalachian Service Project, McLean SHARE, Missions by Young People, and international organizations such as Worldwide Heart-to-Heart Children’s Village, World Vision, and Art for Humanity Leadership Center (all 501(c)(3) organizations) receive proceeds from this Classic.

The Classic Steering Committee wishes to thank all those golfers, friends of the Classic, and valuable sponsors for their ongoing generous support. We hope to grow this Classic in the future, so for all you who missed it this year, look for the opportunity to join in the fun at the 4th Annual Golf Classic to be held in late-summer/early-fall of 2015.
