The Greek word for change is crisis. It means things won’t be the same. People come. People leave. Missions and ministries change. This summer will see Trinity’s staff working hard on new opportunities for worship and spiritual formation for our members and guests.

Eileen Gilmer, Trinity’s Associate Pastor, is in her first year of the Course of Study at Wesley Theological Seminary. The classes will last the month of July. Her studies this summer will include: Theology in the Wesleyan Spirit, Pastoral Leadership and Administration, Pastor as Interpreter of the Bible, and Pastoral Care for Spiritual Formation. Eileen will spend each July for the next 5 years working through the course of study program. The COS is part of her education as a Licensed Local Pastor in The United Methodist Church.

Ellen LaCroix is Trinity’s Director of Children’s Choir. She is also a 2nd year seminary student at Wesley Theological Seminary when she returns there in the fall. This summer, Ellen will apply her gift of preaching on Thursdays and record them on video. She will assist our clergy staff with funerals and weddings. She plans to begin a Children’s Worship experience for Trinity’s children, starting soon. She also will launch a new Bible study this summer off Trinity’s campus at a local hangout/establishment for persons who want to drop by and discuss the Bible, their faith, and spiritual issues.

Nick McMichael is Trinity’s Leader of Youth Ministries. He is a 2nd year seminary student at Wesley Theological Seminary. Nick will teach Sunday School this fall. In early July, he will lead our youth on an Appalachian Service Project retreat. Nick will preach from time to time this summer and will assist with funerals and weddings at Trinity. He’s already grown fond of Trinity’s youth and loves being their pastor. Nick also found time to take classes at Wesley Seminary in early June to notch a few more areas of expertise on his belt.

The last crisis at Trinity involves our Education Ministry. Trinity offers Sunday School classes during the 9:30 hour all summer. The Worship and Education ministries at Trinity are designing our Worship and Sunday School to provide our members with increased offerings during our Sunday School and worship times. You will find new and exciting adult, youth and children Sunday School classes when our fall term begins in September.

As you can see, lots of things are changing at Trinity. Change is good. Crisis always contains creative opportunities to address the needs of the people of God. God is among and leading the people and ministries of Trinity Church. Thanks be to God!
