Drivers and other Volunteers URGENTLY Needed for
Shepherd’s Center of McLean-Arlington-Falls Church
The Shepherd’s Center of McLean, Arlington and Falls Church urgently needs more drivers for our rapidly increasing number of seniors needing to get to and from medical and therapy appointments. On December 31, the organization SHARE will end its transportation program and our center will absorb the seniors who until now have been receiving rides from SHARE. That means our Shepherd’s Center will add approximately 45 new clients to our increasing number of seniors needing help with transportation. Over the past several months, we have lost several drivers and we need to fill that void. That is true especially in the southern part of our service area (south Arlington and the lower half of Falls Church).
Our Center has grown rapidly during 2013 and we need more volunteers willing to help with not only transportation but handy helpers, event organization, program organization, friendly callers to shut-ins and those who have fundraising backgrounds willing to help with efforts to raise money to fund the many projects being undertaken by our Center.
If our center does not get more new volunteers, we will very soon have to stop accepting new clients requesting help. We simply cannot provide the services seniors are requesting with the current number of volunteers we have.
PLEASE be willing to volunteer by calling the Shepherd’s Center at 703-506-2199. Any way you can contribute to the success of our Center by serving area seniors will be greatly appreciated. Our seniors will appreciate it as well.
